I'm home from Spain and Portugal :D #gradtrip2016
Too many photos to sort through and things to unpack at the moment so... imma write a proper post about my trip another day (hopefully *shifty eyes*)!!! But here are a few quick points:
- It was so awesome and fun to escape from Singapore for awhile for a breath of fresh air
- Fell sick halfway through the trip :( bad sore throat, runny nose, cough, phlegm, etc... still having some remnant cough now but I feel much much better already :) Infected 2 of my friends during the trip too (MY APOLOGIES) but they both seem to be well ahead of me in the recovery process now sigh I must be immunocompromised or something argh
- Europe is beautiful. I cannot emphasize this further.
- Metro stations with no elevators (especially when you have a humongous suitcase the size of Jupiter weighing about 20kg) should just...... not exist
- Stay tuned!!!
I PASSED MBBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5 years ago, I remember freaking out and doing a happy dance in my bedroom when I saw this on my application portal.
And I was Dr. Lin for a day :)---
5 years later, I freaked out again and did a happy dance in my bathroom when I saw this on my MBBS results portal this morning.
Today, I truly became Dr. Lin :))) (hehe I want to be called Dr. Joy though!)
THANK GOD. I had been so, so, so worried since the end of MBBS. My baseline was already WORRY TTM after every promotional exam each year, and this year it was a lot worse considering how big of a deal MBBS was. It was the MBBS and I was so afraid I was going to fail something and let my loved ones down. Had like a million MBBS-related dreams throughout my grad trip omg. Had one about clinical exam (was in a very funny format like it was 2 students per room and a competition of who can finish clerking the patient first HAHA), one about theory exam, and one where I started work as a HO and was supposed to replace K for a patient but somehow they only had boluses available for ordering and I was like WHAT DO I DO NOW T.T
Hehe.
Thank God :) This achievement is really only possible because of Him, my family (who always put my health before everything even when I really don't, and never ever ever gave me ANY stress about grades/academics since the first day I stepped into medical school), Jeriel (my favourite boy in the world, and also my CG/study/practice/freaking-out-together partner all throughout the final lap who never for a single second stopped believing in me, always directed my eyes back to God whenever my faith wavered, and was always there for me in every possible way whenever I had my mini-breakdowns ever so often), my friends, all the very helpful seniors (you too JS - if you ever read this, thank you sincerely for all your patience and academic help throughout M1-M3 :) I really really do mean it) and amazing HOs who tried their best to teach their noob medical student juniors despite having to juggle all kinds of saikang HO work. I have too many people to thank and too much to be thankful for. Memories of all 5 years of med school are flashing before my eyes now haha. Can't believe how young I was when I first entered in 2011. Can't believe how much I've grown, how much I've changed. Feeling so emotional right now; it's been 5 extremely long and tough years in every possible way... I'm so so happy I made it. And having Jeriel pass MBBS (thank God) and step into the next phase of life together with me is really, really a dream come true :)
I didn't have the chance to properly sit down and digest the surreal feeling of the end of MBBS before the mad rush to pack and everything and fly off for my grad trip, but now that I'm finally back home with nothing to do but nua (actually no I've got to tidy up my desk, keep all my notes and sign up for commencement now that I know I've passed and don't have to retake any exams, and later in the afternoon I have to make a trip down to NUS to collect my employment package!!! And yup there's still a million photos from my trip that I need to sort through oh man), I'm feeling it all - the extreme relief of finally completing 5 years of medical school, the joy/jubilance/elation of passing MBBS, and the apprehension of starting work in less than a month. I'm not gonna lie, I'm super super nervous about starting work especially because I'm suddenly going to be dealing with a lot of big responsibilities and actual patients' lives. But yes, God has already carried me this far through all the tortuous roads and thunderstorms and mountains and seas that once separated me from today, and I know He will continue to see me through as I fulfil my calling over the many years to come :)))
Thank you, God. Thank you so much. ♥
Joy ♥
