You only got 100 years to live

OKAY LONG POST COMIN' ON UP! Meh I know I said a long time ago that I'd post something after my final exams in early March, but I really really didn't have much time until... now :( So to those who actually do care about whether I post or not, *apologetic face*! To those who don't, *hands grenade*
So anyway, been as busy as a bee because CSFP (Clinical Skills Foundation Programme) started right after we got liberated from our exams, and every single day ever since has been tiring both physically and mentally. But alrighty I'm free and here now! :) Before I begin, here's some moozic heehee realized I haven't posted any in a whileeee
~
1) Year 2 Pros
Here's a very, very delayed "PROS ARE OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D" And as for how it went, it went okay. Not fabulous, not omg-I'm-gonna-fail-la-shit, just... okay, can pass! :) Which isn't a great thing but definitely not a bad one, methinks! I used to worry that I wouldn't even be able to scrape a borderline pass for all my exams, but over these 2 years I'm seeing some slow but steady improvement! At least I no longer walk out of the exam hall feeling like I flunked whatever paper I just sat for :P So yuppers I'm happy that pros are over and happy that I'm going to pass it and be on my way to the third year of my long med school journey! ^^
2) Demi Lovato @ The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel (18 March 2013)
Omg, I was so, so, so looking forward to this!!! Felt my head spinning and heart pumping so fast and nearly foamed in my mouth when I heard Demi was going to hold a live concert in Singapore for the very first time! I was dying to go for it but none of my friends in sg (I'D GRAB ELIZABETH BUT SHE'S IN ABERDEEN :( ) were huge fans of hers so I had no one to go with... Was so, so, so disappointed and upset :( Sweet bear offered to go with me but I said no because I knew he'd have a bad time since he's never been much of a pop music person :( Hee thank you for offering anyway, bear! :') Resorted to searching on twitter for random people who were going for the concert alone or looking for concert buddies to go with, and everything fell into place after I made friends with a girl called Andrea!
So I found myself stoning waiting in the long line with Andrea 4 hours before the commencement of Demi's concert on 18 March at RWS :D Haha saw Tiffany Alvord too. A huge bunch of kids started screaming suddenly and Andrea and I thought they saw Demi, so we ran in that direction, and then when we saw Tiffany instead of Demi we were both like "...Meh." LOL. Okay I'm sorry I've only heard like 1 or 2 of her covers, she sings well but there just isn't anything too... special about her or her music haha. We're all entitled to our own opinions, guys, don't flame me k
Anyway so, feelings and thoughts! Words can't explain how thrilled to the max I was omg I don't know how to describe that feeling but I couldn't fall asleep the night before; it was my first ever concert (yes suaku joy) and I could hardly contain my excitement omg, to see Demi Lovato was one of my biggest biggest dreams, and if you know me well enough you should know that I've always been a hardcore fan of all things Disney! More importantly though, her music has really seen and accompanied me through some of my lowest periods in 2011. I remember listening to "Fix A Heart" a lot back then, and every lyric echoed with exactly how I was feeling. I can't quite explain it, but I felt like she said all the words I couldn't. I didn't know which broke my heart more; what I was feeling sad about, or her song. Heee anyway, those days are long over, but it's still one of my favourite songs now :) And Demi's been through lots of ups and downs herself so yup, she's a really, really strong girl :)
Anyway, all the pics I took from the concert were horrible because iphone camera is lousy, so all these are good quality ones that other people shared online heehee! Credit: Demi Lovato Singapore
She was SO GOOD live omg :'))) She has really, really powerful vocals, and when she performed she really looked like she owned the entire stage. It was so spectacular to watch, and that's got nothing to do with the stage lights and smoke and lasers and special effects at all! It was just so amazing to see her live :') Okay she was late by a full hour (I know right zsjdhf) and people in the audience started fainting one after another because of the stuffiness and lack of fresh air I think, but nevertheless seeing her was worth all the waiting (although I did feel really unhappy at one point) :))))) Heeheee I can die a happy girl now I've finally attended my first ever concert and I'm so happy it was her's!
3) 5KM Carnival Run @ Bedok Reservoir (23 March)
Went for my first ever running event with bear! Yes I know 5km is easy peasy lemon squeezy for all you frequent runners out there who can easily handle a half or full marathon without breaking a sweat and still look as glam as ever afterwards :/ But well it was sort of a challenge for myself more than anything else, obviously I didn't run aiming to come in first or anything teehee! So anyway, I can lie and say it was a great experience, but I won't. It was HORRID :'( I hadn't ran for at least 5 months before the race so it was... yeah. Ran reaaaaally slowly at one point because I felt all my body functions shutting down (okay I exaggerate), but I told myself diedie cannot stop to walk!!! Because I knew if I did that I'd never regain my running momentum again and I'd just end up walking all the way to the finish line already haha
Fast bear finished much earlier than I did! :) When he found me after I finally crossed the finish line I wanted to just drop dead omg I felt screwed from head to toe and inside out for the longest time and was in the highest possible state of discomfort :/ I probably pushed myself a bit too hard during the run, but... I'd still say it was a good thing I participated in this because it was something I'd never done before :) Life is all about trying new things and breaking your own limits right? And anyway a few hours after the run my body was brimming with endorphins HAHA I became so happy and felt like I was high on drugs lol.
4) CSFP with CG9 @ NUH & MD6!
So far we've finished 3 out of the 4 weeks of hospital posting we're supposed to have in total, and the clinical skills exam (with stations and all) is coming up just next friday. BUT, I'd just like to say that while I really am complaining a lot about how tired I am everyday, I've been having so much fun over the past 3 weeks because I'm doing something that's actually practical in nature for once! :) And while it's a great pity Ting and I aren't in the same clinical group as most of the girls in ASG, bumping into them around MD6 and NUH always, always becomes the highlight of my day heehee we're always super happy to see each other! ^^ Miss them so much hee when we go "HIIII! :D" and wave excitedly to each other it makes me feel incredibly warm and fuzzy deep down awww love running into you girls! :')
So yup, I'd pick this life any day! Beats stoning/dozing off in boring theory lessons in LT36 everyday hands down hee :) But I know it's always easier when we're just starting out in this whole practical-based/hospital posting learning approach. Everyone's still bursting with enthusiasm because it's big change but I know we're all gonna become zombies over the 3 years once this initial excitement dies down :(
Yay I'm really liking everyone in my clinical group so far :) There's only 6 of us instead of 7 so we're one of the 2 smallest CGs in the cohort, but I love how quickly we clicked and bonded even before we started CSFP, and so much more after! Really enjoy all our funny/lame/talk-cock moments (which is like... 99% of the time) and how we start every lunch convo with a random question of the day to get to know each other better, which always leads to tons of laughter :D I love the diversity (1 RJ, 1 VJ, 1 NYJC, 1 ACSI and 2 HC!) and how everyone has their own unique life story! And the fact that we're all musically inclined so we can sing all day long and talk about music heehee. Yay I'm feeling pretty hopeful about the next 3 years with these 5 people! Don't think we'll ever hate each other hee think we'll be able to become a really close-knit bunch ^^ Really, really looking forward to starting Year 3 proper!
5) Badminton + BANG! with the seveneffs
Caught up with the badminton bunch in 7F in the first weekend after my exams! Badminton in the morning at CCK Sports Hall, then had lunch at Lot 1 Pizza Hut and ordered so much yummy food. Highlight of the day was trying to make Zeke elaborate more on what he experienced in Thailand! I don't know the full story yet (he said he'll tell us next time because he was sick that day LOL #nolink) but the bits and pieces I heard from the other guys were epic enough already HAHAHA too inappropriate to be posted here though, so ahem :P
Went to dj's house after lunch with the peepz and played BANG! My first time playing it hahaha it was like Saboteur in a way (because you don't know who's playing what role in the game and there's a lot of guessing and deduction involved), only 13049237472384x more complicated T_T But it was fun all the same and I don't mind playing it again next time! :D
6) Gurlz Night Out @ Timbre // Happy 21st Birthday, Yiling & Adela!
:)))) This was really one of my happiest nights ever since CSFP started and ASG got separated. Had an extremely, extremely great time catching up with the girls at Timbre that day and celebrated Yiling and Adela's birthdays! :) Can't remember much of what we talked about, but I know I hadn't laughed that much or felt that happy in a pretty long while :') Missed the girls so much! Really thankful for all these friendships I forged in my first year of med school, hope we'll stay as close as ever over the next 3 clinical years even though we won't get to see each other much :) ♥
Anyway the food there was really delicious omg especially the duck pizza (!!!!!) It was my first time at Timbre (yes suaku joy) and I fell in love with it instantly haha! There was a live band and the view at night was beautiful. Brought bear there 2 days later and he loved it too! ^^ Awww timbre is such a wonderful place, some really really great memories there with the best girls and the best bear :D
7. TIM HO WAN :)
Had dinner at the newly opened Tim Ho Wan dimsum restaurant with bear 2 days ago! Bear read some really good reviews so he decided that we should go there :D Started queueing at about 4:15pm and finally got our table at 6:30pm (Y) The queue was mad long, but well it was only the 2nd day of business, so I'm not expecting the hype to die down so soon! And we had high expectations of the food :P
Suddenly saw Vincent queueing slightly behind us too haha small world! ^^ Asked him where Joce was and he said she was on her way. Didn't get to say hi to her in the queue until a pretty long while later, and after we finally got our table they got allocated to the one right behind us!!! HAHA omg we were both super excited when we literally sat back to back :D Heehee love how we always run into each other at restaurants, the last time was when bear and I met them at the entrance as we were just leaving Ippudo!
ZOMGZ ANYWAY I LUV DIMSUM YUMZ ^^ The charsiew buns (top left box in the second picture below) were just... wow. They look like boring little buns from the picture but looks are deceiving, youngling. I've never tasted charsiew buns as amazing as these I tell you. When the charsiew filling melted in my mouth I felt like all of life's mysteries were solved. It felt like the dawn of a new age. Believe you me, these deceptive looking buns will give you a glimpse of heaven like never before and I can't even- ♥! *tears of joy*
So yesh the food was worth all the waiting indeed :') ...Except the glutinous rice dumpling :/ cos I hate glutinous rice dumplings :/ But bear loves them so he was (super overjoyed to be) in charge of nomming all of that :D Love all our food outings, bear! :D Hee anyway I stuffed myself so much and at the end of it all I was SO FULL I could die. Felt slightly nauseated just looking at some of my uneaten rice and I'd really have puked if I ate another spoonful of anything. All that dimsum occupied probably even my oesophagus haha I lost all appetite in the end because I was bloated to the maximum max :/ But yes, the food's truly awesomesocks! Please go and queue and go and try it if you can okay! I know I'll definitely be back for more dimsum :D But maybe a bit later though when the queue's less scary hee
Watched Olympus Has Fallen afterwards! It got pretty cold in the theatre so I used my white coat as a blanket and snuggled under it... then I fell asleep LOL -.- Guess it had to do with post prandial drowsiness too and I ate SO MUCH some more. So I slept through most of the movie :P Heeee great day with my favourite bear anyway :)))!
SO YUP that's about all the updates I have to offer today and all the stuff I can remember! Will blog again after I return from my Frankfurt-London-Rome-Venice trip on 3 May teehee :D Okay time to practice physical examination haha adios!
Never really listened to Five For Fighting until bear showed me this song a week or two ago and ahhh I really like the music in this one! And the lyrics!! Hee I have a thing for songs with lyrics that tell a story or describe things happening in chronological order :) I know quite a few songs like this but can't seem to recall them offhand. Haha as opposed to songs that just keep repeating the same lines over and over again with no "plot" and your usual songs about dancing and getting down on the floor and other rubbish that people call music ._. I mean some of them are catchy and nice to dance to but ultimately songs like that one up there, in my opinion, are truly the kinds that will grow on you, make you think, and take you to places that no brainless dance pop will ever be able to. Or at least that's the case for me ^^ So anyway today I just went searching for other FFF songs and I have to say that I'm falling in loveeeeeeeee! I really like piano rock and the guy has a really nice voice :') Have a listen okay!100 YEARS - FIVE FOR FIGHTING ♫
I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars
[chorus]
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind
I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life
[chorus]
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star
15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...
I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are
[chorus]
15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day...
15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live
